The Storm. Plays
Alexander Nikolaevich Ostrovsky was born and raised in Moscow, in the very center of Zamoskvorechye, which at that time was a completely unique world. The people who lived there, their relationships, their everyday life, the vivid and colorful language of merchants, officials, and nobles, Ostrovsky later reproduced in his comedies. With his plays, Ostrovsky created a school of true Russian dramatic art, simple and natural, free from any affectation and artificiality. The book includes the plays “The Storm,” “Without a Dowry,” and “Guilty Without Fault.”
