Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung are two of the greatest representatives of analytical psychology of the 20th century. Freud was the founder of this movement, which had a huge influence on philosophy, sociology, anthropology, literature, and art of the twentieth century. Interest in Freud's theory remains strong even today. Carl Jung was a loyal student of Sigmund Freud and was considered his "heir," but then a conflict arose between them, resulting in Jung leaving Freud. The cause of the conflict was a different understanding of the motives of human behavior — Freud believed that mainly repressed sexual desires were at its basis; Jung assigned sexuality a much smaller role. The book presents significant works of Freud and Jung, offering answers to what drives human behavior, and includes Jung's memoirs about Freud, including reflections on the reasons for the conflict between them.
