Already familiar to us from the previous books in the series "Adventures of the Sherbur Family"—"Omelette with Sugar" and "Flying Cheese"—the Jean brothers and their parents have moved to Toulon. Dad is, of course, a handyman, and Mom always has everything under control, but it looks like the year will be difficult. No wonder, as Jean A. secretly planned to go to a party instead of preparing for a test, Jean B. is afraid to go to the new school at all, and together with Jean V., they declare war on the mysterious Beavers... The author of this book, Frenchman Jean-Philippe Arru-Vigno, is one of those six Jean brothers discussed here. More precisely—Jean B., the second oldest. Since childhood, Arru-Vigno loved to read. In 1984 he published his first "adult" novel, for which he received the "Best Debut" award, and a few years later released a second book—a children's book. Today Arru-Vigno, author of about thirty books, heads the children's literature department at France's largest independent publisher "Gallimard." He created the "Adventures of the Sherbur Family" series, so beloved by children and parents in France, together with well-known illustrator Dominique Corbason, whose work can be seen in magazines such as Cosmopolitan, Madame Figaro, and Vanity Fair. In spirit, "Adventures of the Sherbur Family" resemble the famous "Little Nicholas" by René Goscinny and Jean-Jacques Sempé: the "Family" heroes are the same cheerful, restless boys who always try to get into mischief. "Soup of Goldfish" (2007) is the third book in this series.
