The first posthumous collection of M. L. Gasparov's works (in six volumes) aims to fully convey the multifaceted nature of his scientific interests and to present the main directions of his activities. The fifth volume, dedicated to Gasparov's translation work, includes both his own translations and articles about the work of translators and translation as a field of philology, presented here as comprehensively as possible. The volume opens with the monograph "Experimental Translations," published by Mikhail Leonovich in 2003 as a result of many years of work on adapting texts by ancient and medieval authors, as well as Renaissance and modern poets, into Russian.
